Stockport is making things again.
Most of it is unrecorded.
Stockport Exchange filled up with employers. The Underbanks went from boarded shutters to independents and film crews. There is a creative campus in the Old Town backed by real money. A lot of that story is being told in press releases rather than in anyone's own voice.
That is a shame, because Stockport founders tend to be good on camera. There is a directness to how people here talk about their business that reads very well in long form video.
The studio is in Bowdon, and the useful bit is that Stockport is one of the few places around Manchester with a direct train to Altrincham. Sixteen minutes, no changes, roughly hourly. Leave the car, do the session, be back for the afternoon.
You need no equipment. Book two hours, turn up, and talk. Three cameras, broadcast microphones and lighting are set before you arrive, a videographer and a sound technician stay with you throughout, and the edit comes back inside three working days. easy option
By train. Northern run Stockport to Altrincham direct on the Mid-Cheshire line in around sixteen minutes, roughly hourly, first departure just after six in the morning. From Altrincham it is a short taxi up to Bowdon.
Driving. The A560 runs Stockport, Gatley, Timperley and into Altrincham. Depending on the route it is somewhere between nine and thirteen miles, usually twenty to thirty minutes. The motorway alternative is the M60 to the M56 and off at junction 7.
Bus. The 370 and 371 run Stockport Interchange to Altrincham Interchange every half hour, around forty minutes end to end.

Most bookings come from a twenty mile ring around Bowdon. If your town is not listed, it is almost certainly still an easy run.

Twenty minutes
from the Interchange,
on foot or by cab
Driving. Head south out of the town centre on the A56 towards Bowdon, then up to Priory Road. It is roughly a mile and a half. Free parking on site.
Tram and train. Altrincham Interchange is the terminus of the Metrolink Altrincham line and a stop on the Mid-Cheshire rail line. From the Interchange it is a short taxi ride, or a walk of about twenty five minutes if the weather is behaving.
Guests travelling in. If someone is coming from Manchester, tell them to get off at Altrincham. It is the easiest meeting point in the area and the last leg is a five minute cab.

How long is the drive from Stockport?
Between nine and thirteen miles depending on whether you take the A560 through Gatley and Timperley or go round on the M60 and M56. Usually twenty to thirty minutes.
